The otter-beast truned his head to see over Grath's shoulder as the foe appeared. Saki forced himself not to laugh at the pittiful site of the insane martin as he sighted the creature. Then Grath spoke.
Like a compleatly different beast then before, Saki was incredibly quiet and still. He had stepped back (mentally) and allowed Grath to be in charge of this operation. He would offer help only should she need it.
When the she-otter loosed an arrow Saki turned his body to face the vermin and held the tightened bow pointed toward him. Then the beast fled with Grath not far behind. Saki let down his arrow and unstrung his bow, waiting for her victorious return.

Raucus glared from between the leaves of the tree and chittered nervously to himself. He scampered out to the end of the limb; back; up higher into the tree; back down. He wouldn't give the hare-with-no-ears a chance to shoot at him. The marten took a small break behind the trunk of the tree where he couldn't be shot. Glaring furiously, he dug his claws into the tree bark. Who did they think they were, fighting back? He was Raucus M'koro! and he would have their earless heads!
He shivered with pleasure as he pictured the hares-with-no-ears, and smiled again. Then he darted around the tree trunk and perched on a branch where he had a good view of the hares-with-no-ears, but they could not get him. Finding himself in a pine tree, Raucus reached out and yanked a pine cone from a branch. He threw it down with an angry chatter, "Raucus said to RUN!" Why had the hares-with-no-ears ignored him? Usually, the creatures he went after followed his commands without any prompting.
Maybe they couldn't hear him since they had no ears.
That was it. Raucus raised his voice, and shouted, "Run an' 'ide, me buckoes!!" They had to have heard that one. There was no way they could have missed that. And besides. Everyone obeyed Raucus M'koro when he was on the hunt!
