Physical Description:
Rori is of average size for a red squirrel and she has a lean, muscular frame. She has rusty orange-red fur, a creamy white underside, and rings of lighter fur around her eyes. Her ear tufts are a bit long, especially in winter, and she tends to groom them when idle.Belongings:
She has a trio of trident-inflicted scars running down her left flank. They cut clearly through her fur and sometimes cause her pain, but do little to restrict her otherwise.
Rori keeps her appearance relatively neat and she likes to wear comfortable, practical clothes like tunics. She wears a belt that holds the dark sheathes of her swords and dagger, and she carries her bow in a scabbard on her back.
Although she likes to travel light, Rori carries a number of things with her, including well-kept weapons. The most notable of these are a swept-hilt flamberge rapier, a sabre, and an ash flatbow. Along with those, she carries a double-edged dagger and a quiver with a good supply of arrows. She’s proficient with all of her weapons, but favors the sabre.Personality:
Rori also has a knife and a staff made of walnut. The staff is a head taller than her, and while Rori supposes she could fight with it in a pinch, she prefers to use it as a walking stick. The same goes for the knife, which Rori uses for cutting and carving.
She also has a belt pouch, water skin, and a travelling cloak. She often uses the cloak as a blanket, and Rori stores other necessities in a pack. Said necessities include: vittles; a needle and thread; a spare tunic; basic upkeep supplies for her weapons; and a few medical supplies.
Rori is a headstrong squirrel and growing up in a time of war taught her the value of patience and practicality. It also gave her a no-nonsense attitude. She is capable of and does enjoy having fun, but she doesn’t appreciate jokes during serious moments and she has a low tolerance for pranks.History:
She has a distaste for weasels and tridents (and especially weasels who wield tridents) due to how close she came to losing her life to each. The sight of a trident can make her feel ill-at-ease, but she’ll always do her best to hide it. She carries herself in a strong manner and dislikes looking weak.
Rori also dislikes large, open unprotected spaces. They make her feel vulnerable. She prefers being in places that have good cover. She loves trees not only for the speed at which she climb them, but also because they provide a vantage point, shelter, and cover all at once.
If she had to choose between sleeping on the ground and sleeping in a good tree, Rori would pick the tree every time, assuming, of course, that the tree was not on fire or about to collapse.
Rori's a light sleeper and wakes very easily, even if she's in a tall tree. She often has trouble getting back to sleep, especially if she's woken by a noise and can't figure out its source. Bad nightmares will also keep her up. After having one, Rori would rather stay awake than risk further nightmares. She hates waking up fearful and anxious.
Rori was born in Mossflower Woods and her family managed to avoid capture and enslavement during the war. Her parents were a pair of warriors and Rori followed well in their pawsteps when it came to learning to fight. Her mother, an archer, taught her to shoot a bow and her father, a swordbeast, taught her to wield a blade.Code Words: [[Correct]]
Rori acquired her flatbow from her mother, who had first made the bow as a spare for herself. She found her sabre in the remains of a camp that had been ambushed and destroyed. She didn’t know whose it was originally, but Rori grew to love it after using it in practice spars with her father, who wielded a flamberge rapier.
Rori and her parents considered themselves lucky not to have been at Redwall Abbey back when it was captured, but no one was happy about the circumstances. They lived in a constant state of hiding and were always moving around to avoid detection.
These days came to an end of sorts one day though. During the late summer after the large slave escape at Fort N’Tashi, Rori’s father came across a group of rebels while out foraging for food. He, Rori’s mother, and Rori soon joined the group and were taken to Camp Moss. They gladly joined the effort to liberate Mossflower from the paws of the enemy and did whatever they could to support the rebels.
They participated in the final battle to free the fort, but although Rori’s family survived the fight and their side won, they did suffer some personal loss. Rori’s mother lost an ear and Rori’s father later died of his wounds.
Rori herself was nearly killed when a weasel knocked her down and tried to get her with his trident. She was able to move quickly enough to avoid it hitting her stomach, but the trident still slashed some of her flank. Rori’s mother slew the weasel before he could try again at stabbing Rori, but Rori had to be evacuated from the battlefield.
Following the battle, Rori took the name Rivenflank after her scars. She also received her father’s rapier. Her mother gave Rori the sword both in memory of him and because she figured that once her trident wounds healed, Rori could put it to better use than she could.
Rori and her mother stayed at Redwall to help with its restoration, but left once things had settled. Rori's mother had wanted to return to Camp Moss and Rori accompanied her to see that she got there safely.
