Physical Description:
Rhyse is best described as a series of unexpected surprises decorated with an otter's overabundance of whiskers and wrapped up in a rudder tail. He is extremely fit, lean and lithe, with a slight physique that causes all of his clothing to look loose on him; even those fitted specifically for him. He is rather short, but is not childlike in appearance. In accordance to his personality, he naturally maintains a rapid fluidity of motion, even whilst sitting still. His high-energy lifestyle has shaped him physically. Rhyse sports a sharper definition of muscles than others his age; muscles that, while not prominent, have certainly proven their strength.Belongings:
He is covered with a fine coat of brown fur, with the traditional darker hue covering most of his body and a lighter hue dominating his underbelly. His fur is noticeably different than others of his kind at first sight. The color of his fur is harshly desaturated, to the point that his lighter underbelly appears to be a stark white in most light. Rhyse's fur attests to his constant motion; his fur is extremely sleek, with not a single patch irregularly sticking out in a contradictory direction.
It is his facial features that epitomize his fast nature. His face is somewhat narrow, with his whiskers more lying flat along his cheeks than spread out. He wears an expression of perpetual glee, a buoyancy that inherently brings a similar grin to other creatures that see him. His eyes hold all the frantic vibrancy of youth, and speak of massive reserves of energy within.
Rhyse owns nothing beyond the clothes on his body and the (poor, sad and abused) sandals on his footpaws.Personality:
To say Rhyse is high-energy is about as gross an understatement as saying that Hotroot soup gives a pleasant warming sensation to creatures who are trying it for the first time. At the same time, words cannot politely express how high-powered this little otter is. It is within these two wide-set thresholds that the intensity of Rhyse's energy lies. He is almost always in motion, even when seated. When presented with an empty hallway where no one will see nor hear, Rhyse will dash from one end to the other with unnerving speed, coming out of his headlong sprint almost casually as he arrives once more in other's fields of vision. He preforms every action with vigorous zeal (unless specifically asked otherwise), a trait that easily makes him the best volunteer dish-washer that the abbey has ever seen. Forever an optimist, Rhyse's momentum is hardly shaken by misfortune. He is highly social and amicable by nature, his energy grants him a magnetic personality. To all outward appearances, he is the epitome of happiness.History:
This is not always the case inside the head of this young otter. His electric nature tends to silently intimidate some. He is too energetic, too happy, to the point that while he attracts a great many friends, none of them ever care to be close to him. The network of people he knows is widespread and complex, gravitating in wide arcs around him as its central figure, the center of it all, yet alone. He's aware that something is missing, but is not quite aware what it could be, and is silently infected with a penetrating sadness from that absence of his being.
Rhyse does exhibit a sense of martyrdom in this sense, as he is well aware that if he were to drop his exuberant behavior, his mild sadness would affect far more than just himself. He believes it is only a small problem that will likely resolve itself one day, and that he must deal with it until it does. It is for this reason that he volunteers so willingly to scrub dishes. Its a job that nobeast wants; others are more than happy to leave him alone at his task. In all of the chaos of the kitchens, scrubbing dishes is the only place he can hide in plain sight.
His other "occupation" is similarly tied to his personality. Rhyse mind works faster than his tongue. Not only does he talk fast, but he talks so fast that its not uncommon to hear the otter attempt to say multiple things at once, and botch all attempts. Its embarrassing to say the least. In an effort to practice slowing down his thoughts in order to get them all out in the right order, he has taken to spending portions of his free time in the gatehouse, writing whatever comes to mind on whatever loose papers he finds.
There is surprisingly little to say about Rhyse. Born and raised at Camp Moss, he never knew his parents. Words were whispered of his birth being unintended, that he was born in secret and left in the care of the creatures in Camp Moss. Rhyse has no idea whether of not these rumors are true, nor does the matter concern him much at all. He found all the family he required within the tightly-knit community of underground rebels.Code Words:[[Correct]] I WILL END YOU [[Try it, buddy.]]
Growing up, Rhyse had much difficulty suppressing himself. Many of the rules set in stone for exuberant creatures like him contained one or both ideas that crippled him: No running and absolutely no venturing outside unsupervised. Stuck underground for all of his living life, Rhyse was very much a subdued soul. He lived life a day at a time. Wake up, complete chores. Eat. Sleep.
Then came the startling rush of events that led up to the liberation of Fort N'Tashi.
Within the old sandstone building (quickly renamed Redwall Abbey), Rhyse found his previous restrictions lifted. To be certain, the ability to run and roam free were not the only factors that contributed to his flourishing vibrancy, but they were definitely two of the strongest. As he adjusted to this new environment, his true personality took root, making him into the creature he is and continuing to shape him by the day. ((Blah blah blah, the history isn't important or interesting. You get the idea.))
