Species: River Otter
Job/Position: A wonderer by heart and a dreamer by day.
Physical Description:
The top of Jekker's head is a dark brown color, under his chin is a tan color. His belly is a light grey and his body is sleek and dark brown.Belongings:
Jekker's one distuingishing feature are the three deep scars on the bridge of his nose. He won't tell anyone how they were made.
Jekker has a leather pouch with a strap that he can carry it by. Inside there is a feather pen, a bottle of ink, and a bag of clay which he uses to write things on. He never carries paper with him because if he did it would ruin by being soaked with water all the time.Personality:
Jekker usually wears a black vest that was fashioned by his mother, and a strong knit cap which never wears out no matter where he goes.
Jekker has always been... odd. He can't get along with other otters like his parents want him to. Sometimes he will randomly pop out with ideas that might seem weird. His grandfather used to tell him all the old tales (Mostly ones that he made up himself and that he dubbed to be true) and Jekker would always believe them. He himsef is a dreamer. He can read exceptionally and is an avid writer of all things. He has always been facinated by the prospect of a world run by otters... but it is sort of a dream... or a hope, and not a real fact that will ever really happen.History:
The River Otter is a thinker. On several occasions, Jekker has almost been killed by other hungry creatures that thought of him as easy kill. It would have been easy enough, if he wasn't such a good swimmer.
Strengths:
1. Quick to think of others rather than himself. (Some would call that a weakness... but he supposes its not).
2. A great memory so as he can remember everything he hears and sees.
3. Good at writing down things exactly like they are told to him.
4. Is a strong and fast swimmer, one of the few things 'otter-like' that he excels at.
5. A good listener
Weaknessess:
1. Gets lost in his own thoughts even when danger might be near.
2. Isn't very good at being social.
3. Can't stay alert for very long.
4. Doesn't know when to stop talking to himself and to anyone who either will or wont listen (He doesn't really care either way as long as they are 'there').
5. Interrupts people when he is listening to them. Oh yes, Jekker IS a good listener, but he's a good interrupter as well.
Jekker was born in a hollow log beside the river of River Moss. Its a funny little story really, because Jekker's family really lived in a small den not far from the river, but Jekker's mother insisted that she needed to have her baby in the log by the water because it was 'good luck'. She said it would make her son "as fit fer swimin' as any ol' fish". As he grew up, Jekker spent a considerable amount of time with his grandfather, who told him stories that turned him into a regular dreamer. When Jekker was two years old, his grandfather died. This left Jekker with all the stories his grandfather had told him. The young River Otter did not forget to write them all down. He would write on anything he could find. Mostly clay, that his mother would harden over a fire. His father always told him that clay was best for writing on, and as usual, Jekker believed him. Things went from bad to worse for Jekker then. Not many others liked his 'weird ideas', and many others just didn't like him in particular. His mother would always beg him to try and stay 'alert' and be a bit more 'sociable'. But Jekker didn't really seem to understand what 'sociable' really meant. Oh yes, he tried of course, but playing with the other young otters in the River and catching his own food with the others as well just... didn't seem to fit him.Code Words: -correct-
Jekker learned to be his own friend. He talks to himself a lot and others sometimes think hes gone mad. But no, Jekker hasn't gone mad and hopefully will not for a very long time indeed. As his mother says "Him's a short on lots 'o things, but my Jek is still sane as ever!"
Jekker's father doesn't understand his son much either, but he does understand some things. Jekker didn't inherit his love of reading and writing from his mother, who will always insist that learning how to swim faster is better than being able to write down old stories. Nor did he inherit it from his grandfather, who could barely write his own name and let alone read it.
No, Jekker got this gift from his father. As most know, it is a sad and unfortunate thing when someone doesn't have any friends. But it is even more sad and unfortunate when you don't have anything to bounce back on... besides swimming of course, but there are dangers in the water as well as anywhere. It was of course, fortunate for Jekker that his father cared enough to teach him how to read and write. If he hadn't learned, Jekker would have probably crawled into a hole somewhere with no hope of a very nice life.
But Jekker didn't crawl into a hole and he didn't die of depression. It was a good thing too, because the young River Otter would never have been able to travel.
Traveling is another one of Jekkers favorite activites. He's been to a lot of places, and seen a lots of things that others have not seen.
It makes him wise beyond his years, but no one would know that unless they listened to his tales, and maybe not even then. You see, that is one of the things everyone is so annoyed about. Jekker could be telling the truth one minute, but then the next minute he will be dramatizing it to the maximum.
It's a mystery with him really. You just... never know.
