Age: 20 Years
Birthplace: Green Isle
Gender: Female
Species: Kestrel (if that's okay...?)
Job/Position: Winds Cast - South Guardian
Physical Description:
Notus is a reasonably small bird owing to her species, beautifully patterned with black speckles dancing along her long chestnut wing feathers. Her head, in contrast with her torso, is layered with storm-gray feathers, dark eyes surrounded by wisps of black feather and ringed with yellow. Her curved beak starts yellow before fading to gray-white and, later, black. The kestrel's long tail feathers range from slate gray to black, in some places copying the chestnut of her wings and becoming barred with black streaks. Her underside is a pale creamy white flecked with dots of black and brown like spatters of paint. Her legs and toes are a scaled yellow, black claws ready to grip wood or earth in a perch or tear into the flesh of any unfortunate victim.Belongings:
A yellow-orange bandanna the color of beach sand is tied around her head, with a large 'S' stamped on it to represent South Wind.
Yellow BandannaPersonality:
Notus could possibly be called paranoid, if you squinted hard enough. Any suggestion by anyone employing the Winds Cast's services that could possibly end badly for the Guardians is treated with the utmost suspicion and borderline paranoia by her. This could actually be called a sense for avoiding danger, but is also paranoia all the same. To add to this, Notus is the most stubborn member of the Cast and probably one of the most stubborn creatures in all Mossflower. Once she has an opinion or a side on something, no argument will make her change her opinion.History:
Unfortunately, Notus is extremely careless, which is what usually leads to sticky situations (such as the grass snake incident, as Boreas calls it, brought about by her pushing Zephyr into a bush). She has a very sarcastic tongue, which is used to counter arguments about her carelessness - 'Well, I definately saw you jumping in to volunteer your tail' - and hates to be called wrong by anyone.
Strengths:
-Social; when all's said and done, she gets along well with newcomers and can make friends with a lot of creatures.
-Paranoia; while this may seem a weakness, her paranoia is actually limited to stupid suggestions from possible enemies and this has saved the Cast quite a few times.
-Resistance to cold; this helps in the winter time.
Weaknesses:
-Carelessness tends to get her in trouble; she does stupid things and pays the price later.
-Sarcasm; she knows she shouldn't be in the habit of saying sarcastic things impulsively, but she can't really help it at this point.
-Stubborn; she can be wrong about something but will still insist she's right, while giving a number of stupid reasons that don't have any bearing on the situation.
Born in Green Isle, Notus (then Leta) left the island after Riggu Felis had ordered the slaying of all birds with her parents. They journeyed to Mossflower, and while her mother was killed by the harsh conditions they found themselves in on their travels, she was only kept alive by the constant care she recieved and a strange, natural resistance to cold. Trained for fighting in case of vermin raids, Leta grew up as someone to be feared, although she didn't have the mindset of a warrior. She was constantly butting heads with her father, making sarcastic comments in response to his demands that she continue her training, and being careless in the frequent practice battles he conducted.Code Words: ~correct~
When she got sick of the constant demands and left home, she was met by an adder calling himself 'Master Aeolus'. Far from being eaten, she was recruited into something called the Winds Cast as the second member - Eurus and Boreas joined later. After she, Eurus, and Zephyr were almost killed by a couple of grass snakes and saved only by the timely intervention of Boreas, she took up training again to become a better warrior. She encouraged all the rest of the Guardians to do the same. Boreas simply ignored her (as usual), while Eurus and Zephyr protested that they were trained enough already. They were smart enough not to point out she had caused the attack, as she was always irritated when people pointed out her faults. At this point, she decided on a training exercise, which just turned out to be a startling wake up call for two of the Guardians. Wisely avoiding Boreas as she did so, she slipped a newt into each of Eurus's and Zephyr's rooms, causing mayhem and a telling off from Aeolus. Since then, she's largely left them alone.
