Age: 20
Birthplace: Redwall Abbey
Gender: Female
Species: Rabbit
Job/Position: Librarian, sister of Redwall, weaver
Physical Description:
Penelope is an average-sized rabbit with a slender build. What little muscle there is on her developed from a lifetime of light, but regular activity at Redwall Abbey.Belongings:
Her fur is a plain brownish-grey color that lightens towards her underside, but the fur leading to her nose and paws gradually darkens. It sheds each spring and autumn, then grows back thinner for summer and thicker for winter. Penelope's eyes are brown and ringed with lighter fur the same color as that on her chin.
She keeps herself very tidy and while she brushes her fur daily to keep it neat, it's only on some occasions that she brushes it until it shines. Penelope generally wears a tunic and a pair of sandals. The color and material of her tunic often depends on the season.
In her opinion, Penelope doesn't have many grand possessions. The clothes she has are just some plain tunics of different thicknesses and colors, along with a pair of aprons and her sandals. The clothes all have different amounts of wear and color fade.Personality:
Aside from her clothes, she has a hair brush, a comb, a set of sewing and knitting supplies, a quill pen, an ink well, some parchment, and a small knife for quill sharpening.
She stores her things in a trunk by her bed.
Penelope is an organized and somewhat finicky beast. She fancies herself more mature than she really is, and she can be vain with her appearance. She's never had any desire to leave Redwall and finds her life there very nice. There are few things she dislikes about the abbey, least of all its stories and records, which she deeply cares about.History:
She detests messes, especially on herself, and likes to keep things neat. She'll tolerate getting dirt and dust on her for good enough reasons, like gardening or cleaning, but she'll want to wash herself off immediately.
Penelope is a self-proclaimed pacifist whose stomach churns at the thought of terrible violence, but she's fine with lightly twisting someone's ear or swatting them with her paw as punishment.
She's also perfectly fine with verbal tongue lashings, which she'll want to give anyone who calls her a hare. She hates being mistaken for and/or compared to one, as she thinks hares are brutish things with ridiculous appetites and certainly not like her.
Penelope has always had trouble relating with the less fortunate due to never having been in their place. She can easily feel sympathy for them, but true empathy is still a challenge she's trying to overcome.
Born and raised at Redwall Abbey, Penelope has known the place and its inhabitants her whole life. Her parents, a pair of weavers, arrived there in need of assistance and simply never left. Penelope was brought up in the comfort and security afforded by the abbey at peace, and she didn't have much to worry about at all.Code Words: -correct-
Her parents tried to instill the values and giving nature of Redwall's beasts in her. Penelope took to them and tried to honor them, but she had trouble empathizing with the less fortunate, especially those who survived by the skin of their teeth. Her sheltered life made such things very foreign concepts to her and she rarely thought about them unless they were presented to her.
At a young age, Penelope decided to devote herself primarily to knowledge rather than the physical welfare of others, although she did learn clothcraft skills from her parents. She took interest in the tales and songs of Redwall. She didn't have a great affinity for the violence in some, but she was aware of their importance and the need to preserve them.
As she grew older, Penelope began assisting in the library and gatehouse with Redwall's records. She continued learning to weave and sew and such as well, but she wasn't interested in it for a profession and stayed behind at Redwall when her parents set off for work in Southsward.
In the five years since their departure, Penelope joined the abbey's order and became a sister of Redwall. She hoped that it would help to better her and she thinks that it's slowly working.
