Brigadier Gorsebloom and Sargeant Seasand were searching for two hares, Southpaw and Westpaw, who were skirting their punishment duties. Gorse figured if they were going to be somewhere they would be here in the mess hall. He peered up and down the rows of tables looking for the pair. "Well marm, where do you think those rascals got off to?"

Seasand had stalked ahead of Gorse, muttering to herself. It was the third time they had skipped out. She fully intended to be watching over their shoulders the next time, as they would be working in her forge.
"Those two could be anywhere." She flung her paws up in a 'what are we going to do?' gesture.

"Well Marm this is true. We'll scour the whole bally mountain wot!" Gorse scowled at the nearest hares eating. "Oi you two, Have you seen South or west paw? Speak up now sirrahs." The two hares came to attention as best they could. "No sah. Haven't seen hide nor tail of em."
