And so much has changed....
As the Hullaballoo was well underway, creatures of all sorts gathered on the River Moss for games, food, and happiness that has long since been lost to them. Vermin and good beast ate side by side as the party went from dawn till evening, and now as the sun slowly set, the creatures lit bonfires and continued their celebrations. Everybeast was finally happy...
...Well...Almost Everyone...
Odysseus Landon Stormracer sat on a large rock on the far bank of the River Moss, just out of the light of the big fires. The tall otter dipped his footpaws into the river and kicked them gently as he watched the festivities. Everybeast was so happy...Yet he didn't share their joy. Sure he was happy that Mossflower was now safe and all these creatures could come here in unity, but how long would this peace last?
Odie knew the rough side of peace. It was his job! He found trouble, or it found him, and he solved the problems. He helped others! He should be happy! But sometimes..the wounds he received and the memories were just too hard to forget.
Shuttering, Odie ran a paw through his golden brown head fur. That was one of the bad things about having a good memory. It was so very hard to forget. Pawing at his sack and cloak that sat beside him on the bank of the river, Odysseus pulled out his broadsword.
The sliver blade glittered lightly in the light from the fires that danced across the river. Holding the blade up with both paws, Odysseus looked at his refection in the blade. His sharp golden eyes still held their intense glare, but they seemed tired. In fact his whole body seemed tired. His green and black jerkin looked ratty, needing a clean; his hat was askew; and his fur was ruffled.
Sighing, Odysseus lowered the blade. Putting the blade away softly into it's sheath, Odie mumbled to himself. "You're tired mate. You just need some rest is all..."
Putting his blade with his things, Odie was about to stand up, but he froze instead. He heard a noise. Now normally, a noise near a party was not a problem, but this the opposite side of the bank. And Odie was sure he had been alone...
Quietly, Odie pulled his footpaws out of the water and stood up on the rock, grabbing his blade (still within it's sheath), just in case. "I heard that." Odie called out in a low voice. "I know you are there, now come out before I have to come in after you.."
