15. USER CONTENT

"User Content" is any content, materials or information, not including Personal Information (as defined in ProBoards' Privacy Policy), that You upload or post to, or transmit, display, perform or distribute by means of, the Website, whether in connection with Your use of Services or otherwise. YOU HEREBY GRANT THE PROBOARDS PARTIES A PERPETUAL, FULLY PAID-UP, WORLDWIDE, SUBLICENSABLE, IRREVOCABLE, ASSIGNABLE LICENSE TO COPY, DISTRIBUTE, TRANSMIT, PUBLICLY DISPLAY OR PERFORM, EDIT, TRANSLATE, REFORMAT AND OTHERWISE USE USER CONTENT IN CONNECTION WITH THE OPERATION OF THE WEBSITE, SERVICES OR ANY OTHER SIMILAR OR RELATED BUSINESS, IN ANY MEDIUM NOW EXISTING OR LATER DEVISED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IN ADVERTISING AND PUBLICITY. The above is the newest change to the TOS. This means that ProBoards can use all the writing you put up on the board and claim it as their own. It means that when they claim it as their own, by using the board, that they do not have to give us any money for it if they are making money off of it. It also means that if they do release our materials they can disclose our personal information.

Please read and respond! We only have so much time—so we, the staff, need to know. What do you want to do? Are you willing to let Proboards use your characters and writings for their own gain or not? If not we will need to get to work on moving over to IF or something similar.

If you have an opinion—tell us! Moving will mean the loss of a lot of Roleplays, though of course we would try to bring as much over as possible. Character bios can be moved over, though it would be a great deal harder to move threads.

This would require lots of work from everyone, but it would mean you get to keep use of your characters and writings your own—and solely your own!

Hmm... To be honest, I wouldn't be immediately concerned. Mostly because we are simply doing a noncanon redwall rp, the idea already belongs to somebody else- its not as if Proboards can take the copyrighted Redwall story from Jacques, so I don't see the threat to our characters or creations, because they are only here under the umbrella of the Redwall idea. If this was a concept Rp, with an idea thought up by a member and plot that was completely personally created I would be more concerned.

If it turns out everyone wants to switch around thats fine. I would suggest we check out AcornRack, I know of a few really awesome forums there.

Along with Lorki's reasoning, there's the simple truth that ToRA really isn't a famous site. I can't see what use Proboards would have with our material anyways; if we were bigger, I could see why we'd be worried. I think at our present size and standing, though, transferring would be an unnecessary measure.

Unless, of course, Soko starts endorsing Downy or Tampa's on a cereal box. Then we can worry.

It honestly doesn't matter to me right now. I mean, the concept of Redwall and all of its locations and whatnot are Brian Jacques', not ours. If they want to have two insane, blood thirsty martens advertising Chick-fil-a, sure. But you KNOW that Raucus is gonna love it. ("First hares-no-ears, now hares-no-ears-big-wings-taste-good-feathery! HARES EVERYWHERE!")
