Physical Description:

Clar has somewhat odd colorng for a rat. Brown spots litter his tan body fur, and he has dark "points" on his face, arms, and legs. His tail is long, slightly scaly, and almost the same color as his points. His eyes are a piercing yellow-brown, almost gold. He doesn't wear much in the way of clothing. He usually just wears a brown cloth wrapped around his waist and his quiver harness. When it gets colder, he can be seen wearing a tattered dark blue scarf and bandages around his limbs. He's rather tall, even for a rat. His left ear is a torn-up wreck, but he can still hear quite well out of it. He's very muscular and lithe, having spent most of his life in Mossflower fending for himself.

Belongings:

Clar doesn't own much. His quiver harness, filled with black arrows, and his longbow are pretty much all he has in the way of belongings. He does have one necklace, though. A gold chain with a rectangular emerald charm dangling from it. He and his twin sister Diana each owned a necklace exactly like this. When Diana died, Clar still kept this necklace.

Personality:

Clar is very concise and clear when speaking. He has a bit of an uneducated ring to his words, but all around he's very easy to understand. If he feels you've earned his trust, he'll prove very loyal and genuine to you in the future. However, he can sometimes be too hasty when making decisions. Very headstrong, he always believes he is right in everything he does, unless clearly proven otherwise. He's not exactly "evil" in the sense of the word, but he will kill anybeast who gets on his bad side, which is not a hard thing to do. The only beast he will never kill is his nephew, Django, since the young mouse is really his only family left. Django is the only creature Clar feels any real love towards.

History:

When Clarence and his twin sister Diana were little, they lived with their reclusive parents in Mossflower woods. Their parents had had a good upbringing, and they taught their children eloquence and practicality, even in the solitary expanse of Mossflower. They had few friends, who were also woodland hermits like themselves. Diana left the family to marry a mouse named Martin, even though she had been betrothed to Clarence's best friend. In his grief, the friend killed himself, and Clarence, now Clar, blamed the death on his brother-in-law Martin. This led Clar to become a roving archer. He found a few opportunities to possibly kill Martin, but he never took them, instead waiting for just the right moment. Biding his time, Clar finally got revenge on Martin at the mouse's homecoming to Redwall. The rat almost killed his young nephew, Django, but decided against it after seeing how much Django resembled himself. Now Clar simply roams Mossflower, occasionally spying on the abbey to check in on Django, but never coming inside himself. He has no hatred or anything towards Redwall, but rather finds it intriguing. He someday wishes to visit inside the walls, but doesn't mind if he's never allowed inside. He still holds some slight guilt at never introducing and explaining himself to Django, but he is patient and willing to wait for the right time.
