Age: 22
Species: River Otter
Gender: Female
Appearance: Maive is of average height for a female otter, with a dark chocolate colored back and lighter underbelly and face. She has the tattoos to prove she is a sea fairing creature, the most intricate of which begins at her mid back and spans up onto either shoulder. Despite being a bit nondescript physically, Maive makes up for it fashionably. She wears a thick beaded choker along with a smaller string holding three pearls. Her left ear is pierced only once, her right ear twice. She often has an intricate arm and ankle band as well.
Maive's wardrobe depends heavily on the season. Most often she wears flowing garments that tie at the waste and either at the shoulder or around her neck, sometimes leaving her back exposed. Her other favorite is essentially a cloak that has lost it's sleeves and is belted around the waste. She wears lighter colors, her concern not particularly being sneakiness.
Belongings: Maive is an archer at her best. She carries a large longbow which is particularly difficult to handle. She often times hands it out to others to allow them to attempt to wrestle back the bow string. She has a good-enough sort of relationship with bladed weapons. Although she figures herself good enough to survive in a close quarters battle they are not her first choice.
Job or Position: Essentially Maive is an Adventure seeker. She is an decent tracker when she can't find said adventure, and will sometimes find work as one. Although, Maive generally seeks out what she can find that will be the most exciting and goes with it.
Personality: Maive is impulsive. While she maintains a calm friendliness in general, the otter is not one to form close bonds or settle. She comes and goes as she pleases and often lends herself to unset rules, ignoring the norm. While opinionated and strong in her convictions, she had few beliefs that would impede on her tackling a given job. A thrill seeking creature, Maive has gladly sailed with corsairs and fought in bloody wars, stolen valuable goods and then returned to take a job with a Holt.
Curious and lively, there are few things Maive wont try once. She is somewhat well known as the beast to call for on the shore, should a captain want to take his ship into insanity. But this love for adventure had lended her an odd form of bravery. She is not so courageous in the form that she defends others willingly... more in the form that she'll step in front of a sword willingly, just to see what happens. Such enduring qualities have made her, actually, quite difficult to kill. Maive is easy to like, she plays a hard game of cards and jokes mercilessly. It is not difficult at all to make a quick transformation from prisoner to valued crew member. In fact she does so very often.
Also helpful to her survival is her ability to understand desires. She is a shifter in terms of personality dependent on who those she is working with wish her to be. Within the Holt she is kindhearted and soft spoken with a switch to brutal warrior. On her favorite corsair ship, however, she is sharp tongued and cruel with her jokes, and she both fights and flirts as a means of keeping friends. Her ability to cook a decent meal makes her popular with everyone. Whatever truth lies beyond her many faces is difficult to decipher, Whichever persona is her truest is even a bit of a mystery to her.
History and Background Information: Maive was born into a small island Holt on a rocky spit of land just off the coast of the mainland. Her childhood was uneventful at best, spent mostly on merchant ships and roaming sandy shores, Maive had little to look forward too. She'd always been a bit of an odd child, social, but not attached. She wandered alone despite have a gaggle of others who fought for her attention. She had an odd way of getting what she wanted out of any situation, it had begun to unnerve a few by the time she entered early teen-hood.Any other details:
However, it was at this time that Maive found what she really wanted- and it came in the form of a gaunt looking ship, moored on the uninhabited cliffs of the north side of the island. After observing the corsairs for a few hours, the young otter made herself known. After the initial life-threatening and heckling, Maive found them to be a refreshingly different company. She was quick to befriend the ship's captain over stew, and not long after lied to her family about having found a job on a transport ship.
Though the Corsair ship was only the first of many she traveled on, she still makes it a point to visit with them when she can. The first ship was where she acquired a bow and was taught the basics of archery. Of course from that point on Maive's life has more of less snowballed out of control, leading her to a life of constant travel, movement, near death experiences and one hell of a shot with a bow and arrow. She's a deadly, friendly, odd creature. Without much passion to speak of besides that of adrenaline, Maive continues about her ways.
