Species: Hare, not a rabbit, don'cha know!
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Aidan is one of the more sturdily built hares, in contrast to his long and lanky compatriots, he is rather short and stocky. His fur is a dark brown with reddish tints, shot through with gray. Only the tips of his ears, which are black, and his fur color show any familial resemblence he holds with his younger sister, Roseleaf. Aidan's eyes are a sharp green-black, and his face is a bit severe and scarred to be called handsome.Belongings:
When not attired in the uniform of the long patrol, Aidan usually wears a simple dark blue tunic.
Aidan owns a surprising number of daggers, dirks and other various bladed weapons. He doesn't carry them all t-once, though.Job or Position:
Roseleaf has given her brother a pair of woven cord 'bracelets', which he uses to hide a pair of slim throwing daggers on the underside of his forearms.
Brigadier, leader of the 23rd South Mossflower Fur'n'foot Patrol, at your service, wot!Personality:
Aidan has a sense of humor, though he usually puts setting an example ahead of having fun. He takes his duties as brigadier seriously, and as easily moved as a boulder when he wants something done or doesn't agree with someone.History and Background Information:
A perilous hare in battle, he is a good ally in any conflict and loyal to his friends.
Strengths:
Aidan is definitely a master with his blades.
Aidan knows the rudimentary herbs and just a bit more, as his sister insisted on teaching him.
Weaknesses:
Archery is one skill he never seemed to master, as he much prefers his blades.
Not the fastest runner, Aidan is not good at short and fast runs.
Aidan is the first-born son of Major Dominik de Ffemrelle Swiftpaw. Born in the middle of a snowstorm on return to Salamandastron, he narrowly avoided his mother’s fate. She caught pneumonia and died there in the cave where the small party of hares had holed up for the storm. His father, heretofore the leader of a Fur’n’Foot Patrol, had no idea how to raise a small child, this was evident in Aidan’s early upbringing.Any other details: Code Words: -correct-
The young hare accompanied his father everywhere on the mountain, in a sling before he could walk, and tagging along at his heels later. Fortunately for father and child, Major Dominik was taken off active duty for a few years by the badger lord. Still, by the time that Aidan was five, he was messing with anything he could get his paws on. In despair that the young leveret might poke someone’s eye out, the old armsmaster took him under her wing. The younger the better for learning swordsmanship, anyway.
By the time he was fifteen, Aidan was both a perilous swordsbeast and a big brother. His father had remarried only two years previously, and he now had a little sister. He was fascinated by this small bundle, the realization of his childhood hopes for a sibling. (1)
Two years later he accepted a commission into the Long Patrol as Captain. [17] (3) He was assigned to a Fur’n’Foot squad much like his fathers, and there served for the next ten years in various skirmishes and battles, gaining experience and a reputation for being a perilous beast. [27] (13)
His patrol returned to Salamandastron one summer season. Aidan was surprised to see how big Roseleaf had grown in the last few years and pleased to see his father and his wife. Although she was not his mother, he felt a real affection for Gloria, especially as she was a fairly good cook.
That was the Summer of Searats, when an inordinate amount of the corsairs seemed to find attacking Salamandastron a good idea. The outlying patrols were called in to fight, and fight they did. By the time winter made the seas impassable, many a brave hare had earned distinctions in battle and had been promoted, Aidan among them. The next three summers were much the same, with Aidan achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. [30] (16)
When next he left Salamandastron, it was as commander of his own small squad. [31](17) Thus passed many years, campaigns, wars and battles. Eventually he achieved the rank of Brigidier, bestowed on him by the old badgerlord despite his protests. Lady Ryn was as stubborn as her father, and the rank stuck. [36](22)
He never stuck in place at the mountain for long, always preferring to be out in the field. He is getting old, but is still as fierce and rigorous as ever. He met up with Lady Ryn on her march to Mossflower, and joined his small troops with hers at her command. [49](35)
