Species: Palawan Stink Badger
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Shuguru is huge, even for a badger, to put it simply. He is covered in a dark, chocolate brown fur that he can puff out to seem even larger. The top of his head and long snout are a milky white that he always keeps clean. He wears a specially tailored red tunic with an orange cord for a belt. He nearly always has a book in paw or under his nose. He has even been known to read and walk simultaneously. He has the obvious age lines along his muzzle and three long scars along the right side of his face that he received many years a go in a nameless battle. His eyes are a deep maroon; far different from any other creatures, he keeps them covered by a dark blue scarf.Belongings:
A tattered book and a heavy axe.Job or Position:
Badger Guardian of...Escapees? *A fine title indeed *Personality:
Shugaru is a peaceable badger that sees only the good in others. He enjoys eating (one his size must) and he loves reading and writing. He prefers hanging with the younger creatures (he finds other old-birds to pesky). The dibbuns all love him because he's a living breathing, interactive jungle gym and they always feel safe around him.History and Background Information:
But deep down, Shugaru has a different side. Lord Arrin is a fierce warrior who would do anything to get revenge. He once led the mighty mountain of Salamandastaron and he knows how to lead an army. Skilled with an ax, Arrin is a formidable opponent and he knows it. Despite his blindness, he is still an excellent warrior.
Shuguru was born a piece-loving badger and it wasn’t his fault he was born with such size and brute strength. When he was about seven seasons old, his den was attacked by a horde of loner vermin. He had never touched a weapon in his life before that day. His parents where both murdered by the scum, but Shuguru took up his father's ax and struck down most of the vermin. Five or six of them got away but he had studied their faces and could pick each one out in a throng of vermin. His only serious injury during that battle was the loss of his left eye. He soon learned to get along without it, and swore to avenge his parent’s death and kill the remaining vermin who had been a part of the attack. He tracked down the vermin for seasons on end without break. When he met on of them he would stand before it and bring forth his ax. He would look strait into there eyes and calmly say: “You did wrong to attack on that day so long ago. And now you will pay for the pain you caused me!” Every time he had finished those two sentences, the bloodwrath would consume him. He would kill the vermin in such ways it would make a Marlfox or Jusuka leader cringe.Any other details:
Among seeing one of his attacks to a vermin, a small patrol of hares stepped forward. They liked his style and power and brought him back to Salamandastron where he ruled for over a decade. He didn’t like the idea of ruling over anything but soon grew used to the idea. He soon became known as Lord Arrin, as the peaceful Shuguru died away inside him. After about nine years, he left the mountain and hunted down the remaining vermin who took part in the attack. He returned only to find his fortress under attack. After the battle, he tried to rule again, but after a season or so, he began to realize his heart was no longer in it. He had noticed that a very capable young badger had fought bravely and would make a good Lord. One night, he called forth the young badger and did the ceremony to bring a new being into power at the great mountain. When he finished, his great voice boomed across the hall for the last time. “All hail, Lord Axe!”
After a few more nights at the mountain he decided that he would leave it all together. He retired to Redwall Abbey where he became the first ever Badger Father. Durring his years at the abbery, Shuguru was reborn and Lord Arrin died away inside him, and he now prefers to live the way he had when he was young.
He is one of the few creatures who is still alive that remembers the great abbey of Redwall. He is now traveling back to the once great abbey to try to lend a paw to the cause to take it back. Though, threw all his years of living, he has kept the ax, strong, sharp and shiny. Though he prefers not to use it, there may come a day when Lord Arrin will return to strike the foe once more…and it may be sooner then you think.
