Name: Estlin Armon Vinsing
Gender: Male
Age: 34
Species: Wildcat
Occupation: Ex-king, Wanderer/tracker, occasional bounty hunter
Physical Appearance:
Estlin had a daunting appearance to any that see him. He is comparable in size to a badger, perhaps slightly shorter and with less bulk. He is considerably muscular but maintains the lean tall structure of a feline.
As far as wildcats go, Estlin sports fairly short fur, it appears longer along the edges of his face and also tufts along his wrists and ankles and towards the end of his tail. Mostly his fur is a light golden tan, with just slightly darker spotting around his face, arms and legs. His chest and underbelly are a lighter cream color and his tail is darkly striped. He has quite a few tattoos, the one he is best known for and is the most out rightly obvious is the series of blue colored rings that begin on the back of his right shoulder and continue down in a series of warped circles and dots to end just above his forearm- each one represents a member of his direct family linage, the smallest blue ones representing unimportant figures, the largest rings pay homage to the past kings he has grown with- namely his grandfather and father. One of the medium sized rings is slashed over by a deep claw mark scar. He also has a large black diamond shape that begins at the back of neck and ends at his mid back. A few other small symbols are dotted about his collar, his wrists and his ankles the most tender being a series of four small paw prints over his heart.
Estlin does not wear much. His forearms are adorned in gauntlets, as well as his lower legs. The pairs of gauntlets were sculpted specifically for him, they sport jagged spikes and the outer edge of each is curved upwards and razor sharp. Around his neck hangs a collection of necklaces, most of which sport beads made of bone, feather, claws and fangs. The largest and most spectacular is a choker of long fangs painted with stripes and symbols to form a dangerous looking black and white sharp frill around his neck.
He wears only short brown trousers, over the pants is tied a red and gold scarf. The same red fabric is braided and tied around his left upper arm in three separate parts. It is also tied around the base of his tail. Two large gold rings adorn his left ear and a stud in the shape of a crescent moon sits in his right. A single strip of belting crosses his chest like a sash, holding a short spear on his back.
Estlin also wears black gloves, the type that do not cover his fingertips or claws. The palm and back of these gloves is plated with metal.
Possessions
Anything that holds a meaning to Estlin he wears either on his body or on his skin- thus he has little need nor want for possessions. His only weapon is a spear that is strapped to his back, for the most part it stays there.
Personality:
True to his species, Estlin is a vicious, fearless and dangerous warrior. He loves the thrill of tracking, hunting, fighting and war. Under all his violent actions is a deep seething rage and unquenchable thirst for revenge and fierce redemption. He is a harsh beast- quick to kill and disregarding of other 'lesser beasts' lives and goals. He regards himself as far superior to smaller creatures, specifically herbivores or his natural prey. He refers to most as pests and annoyances and is known to toy with their nerves and minds- evoking extreme fear and leaving them ultimately mentally broken.
Though he sees himself as better then practically all others he is the most civil with large beasts- he has been known to befriend badgers, until they find out his true nature. At which point they become his favorite foes- difficult and strong he finds them to be the largest challenge. That leaves vermin, the most capable of his friendship without wanting to turn and slaughter him. He is crude even with those he likes, his jokes are cruel and his conversation often grim in nature. Of course he, like any others, has his light moments, during which time he can be a bit of an airhead and talk vividly about his multiple unrealistic fantasies for his and others lives.
He is not a particularly loyal beast, even with those he considers his comrades he would not step in on their behalf unless it was to steal their fight. If he has something occupying him he worries about no one else.
With those he deems worthy of his respect (either in friendship or in battle) he is extremely honorable and noble with. He fights with formidable foes as if it were a formal duel and does not take advantage of their mistakes, rather he fights against them at their best and strongest to make the victory that much sweeter. He is also quite the gentleman- again with quite particular creatures. He won't think twice about using sneaky cheap tactics to maim or kill more 'worthless' creatures.
He mourns quite regularly. And although he tries his best to hide this if at all possible it is a weekly if not daily occurrence. He has been rumored to sob in the midst of taking a life and become immobile and unresponsive for days at a time.
Strengths:
- Fighting strength, Estlin was raised to be all but the best physically and he has met the demands.
- His senses are always trained, he can see, hear and smell well enough to pinpoint an opponent in nearly any circumstance
- Raised a hunter, Estlin knows how to stalk. This aids his tracking ability but for the most part its his skill at staying undetected that makes him successful.
Weaknesses:
-Estlin's largest weakness is his own mind. He has set up such a complex series of walls to block out violent depression that when one breaks - be it to his own thoughts or the prodding words of another- the consequences are major. Usually they involve such a rage of self- hatred the wildcat essentially mauls himself.
- Bred of a lineage that gave careful selection to what traits should be passed on, Estlin has never had much of any feeling for pain. Even as a cub he could be torn up, thrown around and hardly notice the uncomfortable results. On multiple occasions he has nearly died of blood loss from wounds he hardly noticed.
History:
Estlin was born to be a king. In the far south east his family ruled like royalty a huge community of felines that called themselves the Kalsa. Their empire covered a chuck of desert and mountain range. Selective breeding was an ancient practice in his family, for the purpose of having the king be the strongest and most capable of their kind. Estlin was no different. He was born the first of triplets, followed by his sister Aencer and runt brother, Husio. His being the first birth combined with the fact that his siblings were both deemed weaker then him, insured him to be prince.
He was raised as such, taught to be a warrior. He was a killer before he even entered his teen years. Being that their territory was in a remote location anything weaker then a wildcat was deemed food. He was taught to survive long days alone in harsh elements, to fend for himself and kill when necessary... and even when not necessary.
When he was just entering his teenage years he was gifted with his first tattoo, the large black diamond signifying his linage and his elite bloodline. He continued his training until he could overcome and take down any other cat in their tribe, even his father. He did not challenge the thrown of his father however. He was encouraged to by all, his scornful brother, intense and rambunctious sister and his calm brooding mother. In the end Estlin took rule at 17 years of age, when his father willingly gave leadership to his son. Only three years later he was killed during a hunt.
Estlin ruled well, he engaged his tribe in many conflicts, eager for the other beasts among him to reach the same discipline and skill he had. He continued his families legacy and took a wife carefully chosen to better the royal bloodline. Together they had three daughters before finally welcoming Estlin's would-be heir, their son Estpar. The ring tattoos on his arms were added for his children, wife, father, grandfather, siblings, mother and the rest of his immediate family.
Years calmly passed while their children were raised the same as Estlin and his siblings were. His rule was a decent one and things were bright, pleasant and normal. One difficult winter when Estlin was in his late twenties and his son had just turned three an unexpected enemy appeared. His brother, Husio, expressed his own wishes to start a family. Traditionally in their family only the male heir was to have children, any siblings were not to continue the line for fear the blood would be muddied. Estlin warned him sternly about the action and gave little thought to it after that.
Weeks later Estlin was poisoned. Clumsy, enraged and plagued with cramps and blurred vision he eagerly accepted the invitation when his brother challenged his rule. Had he been in his right mind the fight would have never taken place- and if it had ended up violently he could have easily won. However in his altered state he failed quite miserably to find victory in the hand to hand combat method. His brother spared his life and ordered a few traitorous followers to bring Estlin away and dump him outside the territory.
Knowing that going back once he had entered exile would mean immediate death (he could only take on so much combat at once) Estlin, being defeated, began to travel away from his home. His son and wife were quite possibly killed, his empire darkened by an incapable and weaker leader. Self inflicted scars now mar the blue tattoo that had honored his brother.
Dark, angry and saddened the wildcat traveled for a few years. He ended up in Mossflower venting his rage on the bountiful 'prey' and diverting his angry mind by taking part in challenging fights. He is a feared beast- rumors have been spread about his history and motivation among the woodlanders since he stepped foot in the forest.
