Your character's full name:
Species: Ferret
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Arturo ArcherAge: 25
Species: Ferret
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Arturo is, at first glance, forgettable. He's of average height and build, and his tail's as long as the next ferret's. He lacks the 'mask' fur coloration of most ferrets; instead, the brown fur is limited to a large, curved square between his eyes, and a small line under his left eye. He also has lighter brown fur that runs from the square to the middle of his back. His legs and footpaws are black. The rest of him is a pale golden color, mottled with black here and there. His fur is relatively soft.Belongings:
Arturo wears a gray, long-sleeved tunic, along with a black pouch hanging on the right side of his waist. He also carries a long strip of blue cloth, which makes an excellent headband when it's hot, and a sort-of good scarf when it's cold. He has a cloak, but after the wear and tear it's taken, the hood's fallen off and the hem is ragged. He can't replace it easily, so he tries to wear it only when he absolutely needs to.
Arturo owns an old, slightly rusted sword. It's cheap and plain, but it works well enough that he keeps it clipped to his belt, next to his pouch. He also owns a log raft, on which he lives and travels. Half of it is covered by a lean-to. When it's not simply drifting, he propels it with a long pole.Job or Position:
Wanderer/ Raft Captain-for-hirePersonality:
Arturo is the type who holds strictly to his own set of morals. He refuses to attack or steal from others; he gets what he needs through savvy business skills. He can get most people to overpay for his services, whether that's fighting, rafting, or carpentry (he has to be able to maintain that raft by himself, doesn't he?), although he has trouble finding work to begin with. So, he resorts to foraging and fishing; there's usually a fishing line trailing from his raft.History and Background Information:
When with others, Arturo is quiet and observant, taking in whatever he can about them before he's required to talk. His views of others tend to be very fluid; you can get on his good or bad side pretty quickly, based on what you do, unless you do something reaaally bad. In that case, steer clear of the river.
Arturo is intensely irritated by the automatic labels branded on him because he's a ferret. Because of this, he will not join up with most of those considered 'vermin', whom he considers filthy and annoying anyways. However, he also avoids the rebels living in Camp Moss, as first contact involved weapons instead of words. If he encounters another person, he is suspicious and cautious at first, just in case they're hostile. If they insult or try to hurt him, he'll usually run away, worrying that fighting will simply prove he's nothing but vermin. Because of his isolation, Arturo is a little lonely, but he gets by.

Arturo was born on the skiff Horizon, on which his parents, along with a family of otters and three mice, sailed up and down the Eastern coast, taking goods from Southsward to the North and vice versa. The little vessel rarely ran into trouble, as it was fast and small enough to avoid most corsair vessels. He was taught the ways of commerce by the crew, and learned several other skills from his parents, and particularly his mother.Any other details:
When Arturo was about 7, he visited a northern village while the Horizon was being scoured. He wanted to join a group of younger villagers, but they chased him off, yelling 'vermin' and throwing several pebbles. His parents did the best they could to explain, but the injustice of it stuck with him.
When Arturo was 14, the Horizon was attacked in the middle of the night by a raiding vessel. He was captured and brought aboard the attacking ship, but before he was chained to the oars another ship arrived and attacked that ship. In the ensuing confusion, he managed to make it back to the Horizon and sail away from the bedlam.
Only he and his mother survived. The Horizon, however, was not so lucky; it only managed to get within sight of Southsward before it finally foundered. Coming ashore, the two ferrets were nearly turned away by the locals. Only the timely arrival of one of their acquaintances, a vole, saved the two.
For the next seven years, he, his mother, and the vole lived a relatively quiet existence by the shore. Arturo never felt content with that existence, but his mother, having lost her home and her husband at sea, could not bear to return. When she died, he stayed only long enough to bury her, then set off. Once he built his raft, he sailed along the River Moss, finding what business he could and scraping up an existence. As of late, he's wound up in Mossflower territory.
He has a particular distaste for rats, most of whom are what he considers the scum of the world.Code Words: -correct-
