Appearance:
Farryn SilverclawAge: 45 years
Species: Badger
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Ryn is a small badger for her age. She is very quick on her feet because of her extra-small size. She has the characteristic badger stripe, nose, teeth, and fur. Her eyes are black, but they're warm and kind. She has big paws and claws, and her claws don't seem intimidating unless she's getting ready to fight.Belongings:
Ryn's name, Silverclaw, came from her long gray claws. She uses them to fight, so they are sharp and hard. Otherwise they would break in the middle of a battle, and leave her defenseless if she had forgotten her broadsword.
Even if they did break, Ryn carries a big broadsword for when she is facing a larger number of foes, as she can only take out so many vermin with her claws. She is very proud of it, as it has been passed down through her family, but she never brags.
Ryn usually wears a light smock, that is different colors when she is resting, or a standard brown color when she is marching or trying to work at all. It's usually very messy, either with mud, dirt, or paint. It's never stained with food, as Ryn is a very neat eater.
Ryn has a big, heavy broadsword that has been passed down for generations among her family. It is never dull, for she keeps it sharpJob or Position:
Badger Lady of Salamandastron.Personality:
Ryn is a strong Badger Lady. She cares about each and every one of the hares in her Mountain, and she works hard for them. She strives to become a better ruler over all who are entrusted to her care, and she is truly kind to all. She hates being seen as unkind or cruel.History and Background Information:
However, part of becoming a better ruler for Ryn is pushing herself and her troops to their very limit. She says that they all must fight to become better in this world, and she works them hard. Long hours of marching and short breaks make up her marching schedule, and she cannot stand for slackers or insubordination. She pushes herself harder than anyone-she still trains daily, even though she has proven herself in battle many times over. It's almost a instinctual desire to find her breaking point and just keep striving and working as hard as she possibly can.
Despite this, Ryn still manages to laugh and joke around with her officers and Patrollers and friends, for she has a great deal of them. As fierce as she is on the march, she is kind during relaxing hours, and often orders great feasts prepared for all of her comrades after a successful campaign. She laughs, she tells jokes, and she will show off her smithy to anyone who cares to look. She is very proud of her creations in the forge.
When she is on the march, Ryn uses her tough exterior to make up for the fact that almost all of her weaknesses stem from those around her. She's very sentimental. She can't stand for any of her hares or friends to get hurt even though they know the risks of being in the Patrol. She pushes them because she's scared that they will get injured in battle unless she makes sure that they are absolutely fighting fit-even though her long hours sometimes makes them weaker than if they had gone slower. She is sometimes like a little mousebabe, terrified of what will happen if she isn't strong enough for her troops or tough enough to get them out of battle unscathed. She just can't let it go, that thought that she just MIGHT be sending her fellows to death, and it gnaws on her every time she gives an order. She has broken on several occasions in her past, but does not show her pain to everyone outside. She will not openly ask for help, even if she is seriously wounded, until everyone else has been cared for. Such as it is, she has sustained many a major wound for too long because of her affection for her troops.
Ryn was born to the previous badger lords at Salamandastron: the Lord Darell Axe and the Lady Tearn. She grew up destined for her current position, and was driven by expectation, encouragement, and the thought of the resulting shame if she became a weak Badger Lady. She has always worked herself to her breaking point-and twice beyond, and in those cases she became weak with fatigue and sick with the practice that she pushed herself through. On both occasions she was reprimanded by her parents and comrades, and was told to stop working so hard. Once she was well again, however, she started again like nothing had ever happened.Any other details:
Ryn's favorite story when she was growing up was that of Rakkety Tam and Gulo the Savage. She learned everything about it, and would beg for someone to tell it to her. She knew the songs they sang, where they traveled, Martin's prophecy, everything. As she grew older her obsession lessened, although she is always ready to tell the tale to any inquiring minds.
Random fact: Ryn's favorite food, for some odd reason, is a strawberry trifle. She doesn't know why, but something about the dish makes her feel all happy inside!Code Words: Applesauce Trifles
