Lorna was born and raised a corsair. She captained her own ship at the age of sixteen, after killing her father. Naturally, some of the crew mutinied. So the young captain proved her worth by flailing the skin off them slowly with her cat'o'nine, inherited from her father. (Poor departed beast that he was.)Any other details: Code Words: -correct-
She captained the Blood Terror for eight years, after which she sailed up the River Moss and insinuated her way into Fort N'tashi. Soon she was a captain in the horde, with her own loyal crew at her back.
Lorna’s childhood was short, bloody, and exhilarating. The young fox cub was born on a corsair ship. Her parents didn’t love each other, it was one of those flings that got out of hand and resulted in pregnancy. In fact, they often fought, tooth and nail. The ship was a horror place, not fit for raising young children. Filthy, bloody, dangerous.
But Lorna was no ordinary fox cub. From a young age she toddled around the ship. She endeared herself to some, frightened others. Either way, the crew leapt to when she cried. And she learned. She was an intelligent child, even then. It only grew more apparent as she grew older. Her first weapon was a dagger the bosun gave her, and educated her in its use. The next was her father’s favorite tool, a whip he used to keep his crew in line. Lorna, however, used it more creatively.
Mentally, the vixen was mature far before she should have been. Emotionally, she was generally stable with a fiery temper and a coy nature. Physically, she had a little growing to do. But she wasn’t about to wait any longer, her father was getting increasingly unstable (though their relationship was rarely acknowledged) and the ship was going to pieces.
So why wait longer? She had the crew under her thumb. Half was loyal to her, the other was terrified of her. The next day dawned, and the Blood Terror’s poor captain had mysteriously died in his sleep. Lorna saw his body over the side, then promptly took control of the ship. Some needed convincing. Soon she was truly captain, and the crew learned she was a good one, bloodthirsty but with a certain regard for her crew, a sharp mind, and a calculating nature.
She was sixteen.
Several years later, the Blood Terror truly was a terror on the seas. She was trim, fast, and fat with stolen booty. Foebeasts rarely lived, for Lorna detested the trouble and complications slaves brought. One day she picked up a few pirates who had been floating, clinging to part of their ship. They quickly pledged their loyalty, but her main attention was on a likely searat, she sailed her ship, moving to new territory as plans began to percolate in her brain.
It was there, on a rare land raid (they usually only landed for supplies) that she met up with Carwyn the Pike. The meeting didn’t go well. Lorna and her crew fled across the sea, but Carwyn followed. During the long sea trip several of her crew died of scurvy, including her first mate. She promptly promoted the searat, Bollun, and worked again to loose the badger.
Finally they were free of the badger, and they headed south. Spying a great river, Lorna sailed up to it until she could sail no more. It was there that they were ambushed by N’Tashi’s men. The vixen gathered her crew and sailed into the semi-peaceful fort like a hurricane. The place was never quite the same since the day the bloodthirsty corsairs and their mistress made the fort their home.
Two years later, and she owned the fort. Not by choice, for N’Tashi had the temerity to die before she could kill him herself. Lorna took control of the fort in the course of a duel with her new weapon, a bull whip that replaced her ‘tamer’ cat-o-nine. She wanted control for one reason-- she could leave and take her crew with her only if there was no leader there to follow her.
Unfortunately winter set in before her plans came to fruitation. Lorna spent the winter getting testier and testier, even her own crew avoided her when they could. Finally, the chance came with the swift arrival of spring. The woodlanders attacked. She led the fort horde beasts into battle, but slipped away. They were chased by the Ghost badger, who had somehow found them again, but they gave her the slip and eventually made it back to shore. Their they captured a ship, and Lorna once again sails the seas.
